This low-growing shrub prefers well-drained, acidic soils. Beautiful fall color. Vaccinium pallidum is the more common species of lowbush blueberry in our area, found in oak- and pine-dominated acidic habitats.

A good nectary for native bees and other pollinators. One of our family’s favorite wild fruits – sweet and enjoyable to pick.

Host plant for Brown Elfin, Henry’s Elfin, Spring Azure, and Striped Hairstreak. Also hosts numerous moth species.

A minimum of two plants are recommended for cross-pollination and fruiting.
