Chelone glabra / White Turtlehead


Turtleheads are a wildflower of wet meadows and also forested stream banks. Their lustrous spikes of white blooms bear some resemblance to their namesake. Great late-season bloomer for pollinators.

Host plant for the Baltimore Checkerspot butterfly, an infrequent but captivating species. See images below.
