Fall Foraging – Cancelled
November 16, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm$40
Due to the wintry weather, we’re cancelling our Fall Foraging class this Saturday. The autumn herbs have lost much of their taste and texture, the ground is frozen in places where we might dig roots, and the forecast for Saturday is cold and windy. We could still hold a “winter survival” type class, but the intent was to share in the delicious bounty that the autumn season holds. Thanks so much for your interest, and I hope you’ll consider taking a class in the future.
The first frosts have hit, but there is still abundant wild food in the landscape, including nutritious greens, spicy barks and roots, and the last fruits and nuts of the season.
Join botanist Jared Rosenbaum at Wild Ridge Farm as we explore edible and medicinal wild plants and weeds, harvest and preparation techniques, and plant identification and ecology.
We’ll work with hickory nuts, American hazelnut, acorns, groundnut, blackhaw, sochan, Virginia waterleaf, nodding onion, and much more.
Please bring a pair of work gloves, a mug or bottle, and a plate.
